Automatic mode will parse css files for fonts urls and show it on preload tag on website header.
Manual - is manual pointed url's to preload some fonts. In case when script can't find in css needed url, or you want completely manual control.
Auto + Manual - it will include both links from parsed css files and manually added links.

It’s a useful add-on, it can load fonts before pages load, so pages start loading without default fonts, it increases gtmetrix and lighthouse performance scoring.
